Finding Gratitude in Life’s Potholes on Charleston’s Rainbow Row 🌈

Rainbow Row

You know that saying, “You plan & God laughs”? Yeah… that is a recurring theme in my life as a type A girlie.

I had my whole day planned out like a boss: hit up a networking event, crush some client projects, then knock out admin work like a champ. The to-do list was ready, the iced coffee was flowing, and I was feeling on top of it.

And then—BAM.

Cue the giant pothole waiting to wreck my vibe.

For a hot second, I won’t lie—I lost my sh*t. All those plans? Out the window. But after a deep breath (and maybe a dramatic sigh), I decided to flip the script and  started counting my blessings.

  • I didn’t get hurt, and no one else did either.

  • It wasn’t raining.

  • It was daytime.

  • I wasn’t tied to anyone else’s timetable.

  • My incredibly supportive family (thanks, Dad!) was just a call away.

  • And if I had to get stuck somewhere, what better place than Charleston’s iconic Rainbow Row?

That shift instantly changed everything. What could’ve been a total meltdown moment turned into a reminder that sometimes, the universe slows you down for a reason.

A Little Whisper of Thanks

Standing there on East Bay Street, staring at those colorful Charleston houses, I found myself saying a quiet little “thank you.”

Because here’s the truth: life is always going to throw us potholes. Sometimes literally. Sometimes figuratively. And yes—it sucks in the moment. But there’s almost always a silver lining (or in this case, a rainbow).

The Big Takeaway 🌈

We can’t control every plot twist in our day. But we can control how we react. And when you shift from “ugh, why me?” to “wait, what’s the blessing here?”—that’s when the magic happens.

So next time your plans get derailed, remember: the rainbow is there. You just might have to squint a little to see it.
